Freshi(Fresh <EYE>)is a world created for youth ages 8 – 18 to encourage communication and collaboration through filmmaking.
Freshi unites youth from around the world through filmmaking programs, camps, festivals, television and the internet in a dynamic, creative and educational environment.
Freshi’s goal is to introduce visual/media literacy, computer technology and communication arts in a way youth can relate to – visual media. Through the very nature of filmmaking, students develop planning, teamwork, and production skills. This skill-building program extends far beyond simple filmmaking and into all aspects of each student’s life.
Freshi FilmWorx, the educational arm of Freshi, provides mentor-led, youth-directed filmmaking programs designed for elementary, middle and high school students. The programs place the equipment right into the hands of every young filmmaker enabling them to imagine, plan, shoot, edit and screen their own films. Freshi FilmWorx does both enrichment programs as well as state-specific, standards-based curricula and lesson plans for six core subjects.
Freshi FilmWorx programs have been active in over 250 schools and organizations, both public and private, operating in 12 US States and India. Freshi serves an estimated 10,000 students each semester and since the inception of the filmmaking programs in 1994, has successfully served over 100,000 students worldwide.
